Ples is a small town on the bank of the Volga River, which retains more than 800 years of its history. Two-kilometer-long embankment, built with manors of 18-19 centuries in provincial classicism style attracts to stroll along. There’s a Museum of Landscape picture and House Museum of the great Russian artist I.I. Levitan, who painted in Ples more than 200 of his pictures and sketches. The cathedrals and churches overlooking the Volga stick to the memory for the whole life, and it allures to make pictures of almost every nook.
