Description:
The State Historical Museum is the largest museum in Russia. Its tremendous collection features more than 4.5 million exhibits. This museum was founded in 1872 and in 1881 was awarded the title of the Russian Imperial Historical Museum. In 1917 it was renamed and became "the State Historical Museum".

Main excursions:
Round the Museum. During this excursion you will learn the history of the Museum and its splendid collection. Within a couple of hours you will admire various exhibits, starting from the first men sites to the early 20th century ones. You will see different items used by human beings all through the history.

"Ancient Cultures". This excursion reveals the history of objects, states, laws and traditions.

The State Russian antiques.

This excursion acquaints the visitors with the most remarkable and valuable exhibits of the museum, which are connected with the main events and famous people of Russia of the 10th 20th centuries.

Rare archaeological finds and numismatic exhibits, painting masterpieces, old books, arms and military uniforms, jewelry, personal belongings of emperors and military leaders, scientists and writers.
